2019 was a benchmark year for Alter Brewing full of great friends, family, laughs and beer. Did you know that our beer innovation program yielded over 50 beers last year that were available exclusively through our tap room? All were innovative, some “maybe” pushed the envelope too far (is that a bad thing? …I don’t think so), and some were absolute home runs — and when we hit a home run, we look to program that beer into a more formal role. So without further ado, I’m thrilled to share with you Alter Brewing’s 2020 Retail Beer Release Calendar. The following release schedule will be fully available at retail in 6 pack 12oz cans, 1/6BBLs, and 1/2BBLs.
Available Year Round: Alterior Motive IPA, Hopular Kid Extra Pale Ale, and Center Line Golden Ale are joined by Hell Hazed Over N.E. Style Double IPA to round out our 2020 year-round offerings. Hell Hazed Over was so well received at retail in Oct. of 2019 we had no choice but to make it available year-round!
Available Seasonally: We’ve chosen 4 beers for our seasonal lineup (2 new, 2 favorites) that have performed extremely well and that our fans have asked us to either bring back, or can for the first time. Swedda Wedda Oatmeal Stout is available now through February (and then back again in November of this year). I’m sad this beer will be taking an 8-month break as it is one of my all time favorites from Alter. In March, you’ll see Heavy Squeeze Lemon Tart Ale. This beer, without question, was our most popular tap room beer of 2019 and we look forward to it “spreading its wings” at retail in Spring and Summer of 2020. By popular demand, Bleacher Seat Wheat Ale will be back, and this time for the entire baseball season. Best in class Festbier will return in the Aug-Oct. time frame, and that brings us back to Swedda Wedda in Nov.!
Available via Special Release: Dank You Double IPA will be available in limited quantity in January and April, while two new beers will round out the series in June and October. So make sure to grab them while you… can. Each Dank You release will feature a new, emerging, or one of our favorite hop varietals. January’s release features Sabro – a domestic hop from the southwestern U.S. raging with complex fruity and citrus aromas.
I’m certain we’ll have a retail facing surprise or two in 2020, but look forward to the above for sure! We also promise to keep busy innovating so that our taps in Downers Grove and St. Charles (coming soon) are full of new and exciting offerings on a weekly basis.
Cheers to 2020!
