Wood Vibrations Lager Release

We are thrilled to announce the release of our first foeder aged Helles lager, Wood Vibrations!

What is an oak foeder (pronounced food-er) you ask? Basically, it is a giant barrel… and we mean giant as it can hold 20 barrels worth of beer. Wowza. They are typically used to age lagers, Belgian styles, and sometimes sours, imparting various degrees of flavor based on the char of the barrels. The lighter the char, the more subtle and subdued the oak notes in the beer.

Ok, now that that’s cleared up, what in tarnation is a “Helles” lager? Well the word “Helles” means “pale in color” to describe the lighter complexion of this German style. Little to no bitterness and the very soft, earthy aroma of Saaz hops make this an incredibly easy-drinking and refreshing beer.

Wood Vibrations spent 5 months in our foeder here in Downers Grove, picking subtle oak notes to add a just a little bit more complexity while maintaining the integrity of this classic style.

Pick up some Wood Vibrations in cans now at our Downers Grove location and soon in St. Charles. Draft coming soon!
